With growing global concerns around COVID-19 (“coronavirus”), we wanted to provide you with an update on our response to date and our commitment to you moving forward. The health, safety and well-being of our members, associates and employees is of the utmost importance to us, we are following the lead of Canadian public health authorities at this important time.
We have reviewed the available information resulting from the Provincial Government announcement Feb 8, 2021 afternoon of the Peel Region extension of the stay-at-home order. As a Post-secondary institution, we can remain open for the training of students in a flight training program (rating or licence) who are working towards becoming a professional pilot as well as those professional pilot students working on building their solo hours. All other flying must be suspended for the duration of the provincial order.
In order to ensure that we are only training students working towards a career as a pilot, students with reservations up to and including February 21st that do not have an active contract for a Commercial Pilot Licence Training Program or the Flight Instructor Rating Program will be asked to sign a letter of intent confirming that they will be pursuing a CPL after completion of their PPL or for reasons of enhancing their skill set for the purpose of becoming a professional pilot. This request (in the form of a DocuSign document) will be sent out to every affected student in a separate email later today. If you are an affected student and have not received the email request by tomorrow, please email [email protected] and she will send you a copy. We will be cancelling student’s bookings until February 22nd, if we don’t have a signed letter of intent or signed contract on file for them.
Our business hours will continue to remain 0800 – 1800, 7 days a week up to and including February 21st. Effective February 22nd we hope to resume to our normal operation hours.
Since ground school is already being delivered virtually, there is no impact on this portion of your training and we will continue to offer PPL ground school sessions.
Please note that a number of our flight instructors will be taking a break from flying during the lock down and we currently have an examiner that will be helping us with PPL and CPL flight tests.
I would like to remind everyone that the lock down order requires us to only allow people to enter our facility (ie: the Clubhouse or Maintenance buildings) by appointment and emphasizes that 2 m physical distancing is required at all times other than when you are in one of our airplanes with a flight instructor.
The airport will remain open as usual and snowplowing will continue as required.
Our fuel pumps will be open during our revised business hours (0800 – 1800, 7 days a week).
Our restaurant will remain closed until restrictions on indoor dining are lifted.
Our pilot shop will remain open for online sales and curbside pickup only.
Thank you once again for your patience, understanding and cooperation as we continue to navigate our way through the pandemic and ensure that we stay in compliance with the latest Provincial order and guidelines.
