Sunwing Cadet Program
Introducing the Sunwing Cadet Program
BFC is proud to introduce the newly-launched Sunwing Cadet Training Program. Officially announced on January 26th, 2024 in the Wynott Lecture Hall, the Cadet Program provides qualifying graduates of the Integrated Airline Transport Pilot Licence (IATPL) program the opportunity for a First Officer position at Sunwing airlines with as little as 250 hours of flight experience.
The Sunwing Airlines Cadet program was founded in 2016 by the Flight Operations department with the purpose of engaging in partnership agreements with selected post-secondary institutions employing newly graduated pilots through a direct entry cadet program. Sunwing Airlines has agreements in place with the University of Waterloo, Seneca College, Mount Royal University and most recently, the Brampton Flight Centre, with the hopes to continue to expand and extend their reach across Canada.
Sunwing Airlines believes this partnership involves active participation in giving back to our industry and our partners alike. The Office of Collegiate Engagement was activated to provide support to the Flight Operations Department in engaging with each school. This engagement includes holding Cadet Program Engagement Sessions for faculty and students, acting as panel members on all Advisory Panels and Councils, offering professional development support to each school and their aviation and career advancement departments, rolling out the recruitment and interview process for the cadet program annually, and finally support the cadets through a formalized Cadet Mentorship Program.
Scholarship Opportunities – Sunwing Uplift Awards
Sunwing Airlines will offer two IATPL graduates $1000.00 per candidate to be used toward flight training expenses. This scholarship would be paired with an opportunity to participate in the Sunwing Cadet selection process. Scholarship recipients
